How to tell if your marketing is actually bringing in calls

Rankings are nice. Calls pay the bills. Here’s how to see exactly where your jobs come from — without becoming a tech expert.

Start with your Google profile numbers

Your profile shows calls, direction requests and website clicks each month. It’s free, and it’s the best single measure of how the map is working for you.

Use a tracking number on your website

A call-tracking number shows how many calls came from your site, and from which pages. It forwards to your normal phone, so nothing changes for you.

Track form enquiries

Make sure every quote form sends to an inbox you check — and test it monthly. Broken forms are one of the most common silent leaks.

Send enquiries to an inbox you actually read

Ask “How did you find us?”

Simple, but it works. Note the answer on every new job for a month and you’ll see a clear pattern.

What a good monthly report looks like

One page: rankings, calls, direction requests, enquiries, and what was done. If your report is 30 pages of charts and no call count, ask why.
